Fast Track to the Analysis of Natural Hazards
Storms, floods, heavy rain, hail – all consequences of global climate change are becoming more and more noticeable. In addition, events such as earthquakes, tsunamis or volcanic eruptions are rare but extremely devastating.
Our mission is to identify such risks at an early stage, to be able to classify them economically and to draw the right conclusions.
The combination of the online system K.A.R.L.® developed by us and the expertise of our experienced geoscientists mean we can offer comprehensive, specific and personal advice on the subject regarding natural hazards.
What is so special about K.A.R.L.®?
With the help of K.A.R.L.® you can track down, analyze and concretely enumerate worldwide precisely. Whereby K.A.R.L.® goes much further than the interpretation of standard market hazard maps. K.A.R.L.® evaluates not only historical data, but also considers, amongst other things, the exact elevation, soil conditions and the landscape in the direct location environment.
With this information K.A.R.L.® calculates the risk information about return periods of between 10 and 10,000 annual events. In this way highly significant analyses emerge, taking into consideration regional distinctions as well as the specific susceptibility (vulnerabilities) of the buildings, sites, capital equipment and stored goods, because: these vulnerabilities greatly influence the risk.
In this way a hail event can be devastating for a car in the open air, but for a car in storage halls negligible. Completely different is the risk regarding earthquakes: here cars in storage halls are at a larger risk than outside on an open space, as they can be damaged by falling parts or by the collapse of the building.
K.A.R.L.® considers these crucial components in the risk analysis and therefore can determine a realistic risk classification number for a property.
For complex issues the experience of our experts is still important. Our team of experienced geoscientists, who even in all kinds of weather stride along the dykes, are there for you.
