Slowly changing average temperatures primarily affect production in agriculture, forestry and fisheries. They are also important for other activities related to ecosystems, such as ecosystem restoration, tourism, or the use of water for cooling. In addition, rising temperatures can also lead to health problems (more disease vectors, longer allergy seasons).
In the climate risk analysis, we deal with the effects resulting from a gradual and continuous change in the annual average temperature. The risk assessment is therefore based on the mean annual temperature. Extreme events are not considered in this context.
